Job Overview
The Clinical Manager will be responsible for overseeing the clinical and operational aspects of the practice, ensuring a high standard of patient care, team efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards. This role bridges clinical and administrative functions, requiring strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of dental practice operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership and Team Management
- Lead, motivate, and manage the clinical team, including dentists, dental nurses, hygienists, and reception staff.
- Develop and deliver training programs to ensure team members are up-to-date with clinical protocols and best practices.
- Schedule and coordinate staff rotas to ensure the practice operates smoothly and efficiently.
- Conduct regular team meetings to discuss updates, goals, and address concerns.
- Ensure all clinical areas are well-maintained, fully equipped, and meet infection control standards.
- Oversee the preparation and sterilization of instruments and materials for clinical procedures.
- Monitor stock levels of dental materials and order supplies in a cost-effective and timely manner.
- Assist with complex clinical cases when required, particularly IV or inhalation sedation cases.
- Ensure the practice complies with CQC (Care Quality Commission) and GDC (General Dental Council) regulations and guidelines.
- Conduct audits and risk assessments to maintain high standards of patient safety and infection control.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in dental legislation and implement necessary updates.
- Oversee the patient journey, ensuring a seamless and positive experience from initial consultation to treatment completion.
- Handle patient feedback and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Support the implementation of new services and technologies to enhance patient care.
- Collaborate with the Business Manager on financial planning, budgeting, and business development strategies.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date patient records are maintained in compliance with GDPR regulations.
- Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new team members.
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3 in Dental Nursing or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience in a managerial role.
- In-depth knowledge of CQC and GDC guidelines and standards.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in SOE dental software.
- Sedation qualified.
